a little info on our topic: In the twenieth century, it should be noted ,the u.s provied invaluable support to the french people. in the 2 world wars, american soliders fought alongside the freench,and in world war 2, american and british military forces liberated france from nazi german occupation.From this sentence you can see why the french wanted to repay back america with this gift.
